on the Design Wall

I finished the last stars and flowers for my hexie quilt, and put them all up on the design wall.
At first in a scrappy version (above),...
... but then I thought about a rainbow-y layout.
What do you think? What would you do?
I still have to make some partial stars for the gaps in the top and bottom, but I'll decide on the right colors and fabrics later.
And here they are, the very last flowers and stars I sewed during the last days.

Steffi, it is absolutely gorgeous. I would vote for the scrappy version, but then, I am a scrappy kind of girl. I love it when the colors are all mixed up.
(Thank you so much for the link that you sent me and the picture. It was very clear and I could see it perfectly. It helped so much.

Fabulous! Difficult choice -- I think I like the scrappy version best, but they are both amazingly beautiful. You're inspiring me to pull out my version and get back to work.

You can't go wrong with either lay-out. I mean it; this is one of the prettiest quilts I've ever seen. Totally gorgeous! Can't wait to see it completed. Wow!!

Ho, what a chef d'oeuvre! As regards my personal point of view, I always prefer scrappy that has a random style... if I express myself properly!

I admit, the rainbow layout caught my eye! Either way, it's a beautiful piece of work - pieces of work? ;)

I vote for the scrappy layout. Beautiful work here -- I wish I had the patience to do something just like it!

Gorgeous! I love both of them, but do like the rainbow version just a little more :)

This is so pretty. I'm another vote for scrappy, but both would look good, so I guess it's what you would like best that matters. (Here from Freshly Pieced).

My goodness! There are a lot of little hexies up on that design wall. I'm a rainbow sort of girl, so I'll have to put my vote in for that one. Great work!

Love the rainbow. Its not often that you have enough of all the colors to achieve that affect. Beautifully done either way!

The rainbow layout is great. That is the one I would choose.

Picking my jaw up off the floor! Stunning!

I like the rainbowy version myself, but them I'm a sucker for rainbow quilts.

Can't wait to see what you decide on.

Scrappy is really pretty, the rainbow looks a little choppy.

I was thrilled to stumble across your blog entry showing this quilt. It's very similar to one I'm making based on a lovely old quilt I saw in a book. I suspect my pieces might be a little smaller than yours. I'm giving myself 10 years to complete it (4 down, 6 to go).

Ps. I like the random layout
